News item 1: Jagenberg reloaded
Adapters create connections and make things compatible. The same is true for paper-cutting machines. With the right unwinding adapters, a 76 mm piece gripping head can handle even a 300 mm thick core. Thanks to these accessories, our Jagenberg cross-cutter has long proven itself useful as an universal and carton-cutting machine. Now the Jagenberg roller is following suit. Winding carton from a 300 mm core – another option we now offer!

News item 2: Sheet-Slit
We cut paper to custom formats. We also have the best technology for small batches. Our new sheeter cuts paper into precise formats, efficiently and for up to three uses. We efficiently process individual rolls. Delicate surfaces are protected by the single-lane cutting process. Reams are advanced with the highest precision and packaged manually. Siliconized, coated and specialty papers are just the right thing for our sheet slitter.

Information from the management board
On 1 September 2011, Ms Ludwig entered into her well-deserved retirement. After a papermaking apprenticeship and a successful Abitur (school-leaving examination), Ms Ludwig studied Paper Technology at the Technical University Dresden. Her first job was at VEB Druck- und Spezialpapiere Golzern. As a long-time head of the Research and Development department, she was also put in charge of the Operational Quality department in 1990. In 1992, Gerlinde Ludwig was appointed as CEO of Papierfabrik Golzern. After Papierfabrik Golzern shut down its paper manufacturing operation in 1992, the plant developed into one of Germany’s leading paper suppliers under her leadership. When it was privatized in 1993, the state holding company was guaranteed 22 employees. Today, Papierfabrik Golzern offers about 65 qualified positions. Ms Ludwig was able to establish the company on the market as a reliable supplier, known for having the best quality and a high level of technical competence among its employees. Because Gerlinde Ludwig’s retirement had been planned well in advance, Mr Martin Röhrenbeck was able to step in as her designated successor in 2010 and begin his training. He is now responsible for the company and its further development.
Gerlinde Ludwig will continue to act as a consultant for the company.

New pallet warehouse inaugurated
Our new palett store is finished. Immediately up to 6.000 empty pallets can be stored well ventilated and protected in the 350 m2 large hall. The former palett store had to yield, since in its place a new storage hall for jumbo rolls develops.
Daily more than 200 loaded pallets leave our house.

Better than ever before!
One of our three cross cutters paid its dues and earned a full set of upgrades in October. The control system will be updated to the latest version. Brakes, motors, switch cabinets and many other details will be completely replaced. A new longitudinal blade section with 4 knives will allow 3-up cutting. With the new toothed rollers even difficult papers can be handled much better. The sorter unit automatically recognizes errors such as splices and tears, and removes them. The machine can be monitored and maintained via internet. Modern touch panels bring color into the picture.

Brandnew: new slitter winder starts in September
Ordered in spring, in the early autumn supplied. Our new slitter winder winds finest tissue papers from 20 g/m2 up to cardboard of 350 g/m2 reliably on two winding waves. Absolutely cleanly separated finished roles starting from 5 cm width, to 60 cm diameter are the result. With the new machine the enormous need of secare-, packing and narrow roles lets itself cover still faster and more efficiently. A new investment straight in due time! A further novelty also will be offered! But in addition more in September.

Energy and speed
… please us. Therefore the paper factory Golzern is sponsoring the 6th Muldentaler city run. On 11 April for the largest people sport run of the region scarcely 700 runners are expected. 21.1 km long route leads on the hollow valley course cycle track by a wonderful landscape area.
The starting signal falls in the Ringelnatz city Wurzen. Goal is the Grimma stadium. The distance leads about 4 km past before the goal directly the area of the paper factory Golzern. A mad view of the broad river landscape is offered to the sportsmen. Because a weir accumulates here the water for the formerly company-owned hydro-electric power plant.
Energy thus in each regard, which pleases us!

Change large slitter winder
Everything makes new that ... November! Our large slitter winder will be converted. The complete innovation makes role changes now simply, fast and safe. The kerf width attitude takes place automatically by push of a button, exactly and uncomplicatedly. Starting from 01.12.2009 again in the assortment: Cuts of narrow roles starting from 5 cm width with maximum diameters to 150 cm. Extended power spectrum, higher efficiency and cut accuracy accompany with increased control comfort and various facilitations of work.

Fachpack 2009 in Nuremberg
Also in this year our participation in that was specialized luggage full succes. The resonace at our exhibition booth shows : Paper is again and again a current packaging material. Whether smoothly or creped, paper is in each form an in demand and useful material. We thank the many visitors of our exhibition booth for the interesting meetings and suggesting discussion.
